A Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) PC to act as the server, and a Wi-Fi network for tablets and phones. Install on the server PC first and choose Server. Extra Windows tills choose Terminal during installation.
On the server PC open Rettup POS Setup and go to Terminals. It shows the server address. Type that address into the browser on the tablet or phone (both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi). Press Create a pairing code, enter the code on the new device, and it is paired. A pairing code works once and expires after 10 minutes.
On the Terminals page of Setup, the Android app card shows the address the app can be downloaded from (it ends in /rettup-pos.apk). Open it on the tablet, allow installation from that source when Android asks, then enter the server address. A tablet that already has the app offers an Update button when a newer version is on the server.
In Setup open Kitchen and bar, switch on Screen for the station, then press Add a screen under Kitchen screens. Type the server address followed by /kds into the browser on the tablet, PC or TV (same Wi-Fi) and enter the code shown. The screen stays connected without a PIN. Remove it in the same list if you no longer use it.
Every employee signs in with their own PIN. The PIN also decides what they are allowed to do. An administrator creates employees and sets their PINs under Employees in Back Office.
Check that the server PC is on, and that the tablet is on the same Wi-Fi as the server PC. Then press Try again. If the Wi-Fi dropped for a short while the till keeps working and sends your sales once it is back.
Receipt and kitchen printers must understand ESC/POS, which most receipt printers do. A network printer is added by its IP address (for example 192.168.1.60). A USB printer connected to a Windows PC can be used too: share that printer in Windows, then type \\PCNAME\SHARENAME as the printer address, in Settings for the receipt printer or under Kitchen and bar for a kitchen or bar printer. The PC with the printer must be on, and the server PC must be allowed to use the share. Ordinary office printers are not receipt printers, so those are better used through "Printer installed on each Windows PC" in Settings.
Yes, on your own Wi-Fi. In Rettup POS Setup, under System, Settings, tick Back Office from other devices. Give each owner or manager a Back Office password under Staff, then open the server's address followed by /office on the device. Only reports, cash-up, end of day, stock, menu and staff are available there. Tills, printers, kitchen screens, backups and the licence stay on the server PC.
In Back Office, open End of day and then Cash-up. Count each employee's cash and type it in. If the count is short or over, the system asks for a reason and the person accountable. The whole-business count is done at the bottom of the same page.
All employees' cash-ups must be done, the whole-business cash-up must be done, and everyone must be clocked out. The End of day page lists exactly what is still missing, with a button to clock someone out.
In Back Office, under Reporting. You can report by item, section, employee, floor area and more, choose one or several employees or items at a time, and download the result as a CSV file to open in Excel. Cash differences under End of day lists every short or over count and who was accountable.
Open Setup on the server PC and go to Updates and support. When an update is available it shows an update button, which downloads, checks and installs it. Tablets then pick up the new screens automatically. If the Android app itself has a newer version, use the button on the Terminals page to fetch it onto your server.
The system keeps backups on the server PC. Your data lives in C:\ProgramData\Rettup POS. Please also copy backups somewhere else, such as a memory stick or cloud drive, because a backup on the same PC does not protect you if that PC fails.
